About Me

Hi! My name is Martine, and I'm originally from the Netherlands, although I haven't spent much time there in the last ten years. I've travelled to over forty countries and have lived in six of them. I speak six languages and can read (to some extent) about a dozen of them.

When I first started travelling on my own at age 17, my trips revolved around women's gymnastics; I went wherever my favourite gymnasts were training or competing. Then I discovered photography, and since then, my trips have revolved around beautiful and photogenic places. I love mountains, lakes, architecture, spiral staircases, forests, lone trees, scenically located jetties, historical sites, museums, sunsets and street art, and that's what you'll find in this blog.

Oh, and cats. I'm not afraid to admit it -- I'm a mad cat lady. I feed cats wherever I go, and sometimes I take pictures of them, too. They never turn out quite as well as my pictures of trees or façades, but I try not to hold that against the cats.
